Light oak commercial wood flooring in a London interior

Nothing quite matches the look and feel of a real wood floor. Commercial wood flooring brings warmth, texture and a sense of quality that few other surfaces can, which is why it remains a first choice for hospitality, retail and heritage interiors across London. Engineered timber gives you that genuine oak or walnut surface with far better stability than solid boards, so it copes with the temperature and humidity swings of a busy commercial space. Laminate offers a hard-wearing, cost-effective alternative where the look matters more than the material, and sprung timber systems give halls and studios the give underfoot that dance, drama and sport demand.

The right specification matters. Board thickness, the depth of the real-wood wear layer, the grade and the finish all decide how a floor copes with chair legs, stiletto heels, spills and a constant flow of feet. We help London venues choose the board, finish and build-up that suit the space and the way it is actually used, rather than dropping a domestic product into a commercial setting and hoping it lasts.

We then fit it properly. The subfloor is checked and prepared so the floor sits flat and stays put, boards are acclimatised before laying, and expansion is allowed for so the floor moves without gapping or cupping. Where an existing timber floor still has life in it, we can sand and refinish it back to bare wood and apply a hard-wearing commercial lacquer or oil instead of replacing it. The whole job is supply and fit under one written quote, with no surprises, and where a venue cannot close we work out of hours so it is ready when you reopen.

Why wood

The benefits of commercial wood flooring.

Warmth and character

Real timber adds warmth, texture and a premium feel that lifts hospitality and retail interiors and ages beautifully.

Built to last

Engineered cores stay stable in busy, fluctuating environments, and a commercial finish stands up to heavy footfall.

Refinishable surface

A genuine wood layer can often be sanded and refinished years later, refreshing the floor instead of replacing it.

A finish to suit the space

Choose from matt or satin lacquers, natural oils and a range of stains and grades to match your interior scheme.

Cost-effective alternatives

Where budget is tight, quality laminate delivers a convincing wood look with excellent scratch resistance.

Straightforward upkeep

Sealed timber and laminate sweep and mop clean, so day-to-day maintenance stays simple for your team.

How it works

From survey to finished floor.

  • Survey and specification. We assess the subfloor and how the space is used, then recommend the right board, grade and finish.
  • Clear written quote. Supply and fit in one fixed price, with the build-up and timings agreed before we start.
  • Preparation and acclimatisation. The subfloor is levelled and the boards conditioned so the finished floor sits flat and stable.
  • Installation and finishing. Boards are laid to manufacturer specifications, then sanded and sealed where required, ready to walk on.

Common questions

Wood flooring FAQs.

What is the difference between engineered wood and laminate flooring?

Engineered wood has a genuine timber top layer bonded to a stable plywood or HDF core, so you get a real oak or walnut surface that can usually be sanded and refinished. Laminate is a high-resolution photographic decor sealed under a tough wear layer, with no real wood on the surface. Engineered wood looks and feels authentic and tends to last longer; laminate is harder-wearing against scratches for the money and is the more cost-effective choice where the look matters more than the material.

Is wood flooring suitable for busy commercial spaces?

Yes. Engineered boards are far more stable than solid timber, so they cope with the temperature and humidity swings of a busy bar, restaurant or showroom. The right board thickness, wear layer and a hard-wearing commercial finish make all the difference, which is why we specify the build-up around how the space is actually used rather than fitting a domestic product into a commercial setting.

Can you sand and refinish an existing wood floor rather than replace it?

Often, yes. A solid or thicker engineered floor with enough wear layer left can be sanded back and refinished to look like new, which is usually quicker and more cost-effective than a full replacement. We will assess the existing floor on site and tell you honestly whether refinishing or relaying is the better option.

Will you work out of hours so we do not have to close?

Yes. We regularly fit and finish wood floors for London pubs, restaurants and shops overnight or at weekends, clearing up behind us so you can trade the next day. Installation is timed around your opening hours and agreed up front in your written quote.
