Parquet flooring London specialists. From restoring tired, original block floors to fitting new herringbone and chevron, we repair, install, sand and seal wood block floors that look the part and last in commercial use.

Herringbone parquet flooring in a London boardroom

Few floors carry the sense of craft and history that parquet does. A wood block floor laid in herringbone or chevron lifts an interior in a way little else can, which is why parquet flooring remains so prized in London offices, showrooms, restaurants, churches and period homes. We are parquet flooring and parquet floor restoration specialists, working across London on both original block floors that deserve saving and new installations that need to perform under commercial footfall. Whether you have an old, damaged parquet floor hidden under carpet or you are specifying a brand-new herringbone scheme, we cover the whole job, from block repairs to the final coat of finish.

Parquet floor restoration is where we are asked to help most. Years of wear leave block floors with missing, loose and damaged blocks, failed adhesive, dried-out gaps and a grey, worn surface. Our restoration work covers lifting and re-laying blocks, removing old bitumen and adhesive from the backs of the blocks and the subfloor, levelling the subfloor so everything sits flat, gap filling, and then re-sanding and sealing the whole floor back to a clean, even finish. Where blocks are beyond repair we replace them, matching reclaimed blocks to the existing floor by species, size and tone so the repairs vanish once the floor is sanded. Parquet floor sanding done properly takes a dull, tired surface back to bright bare timber ready for oil or lacquer.

For new work, we handle new parquet installation and fitting in herringbone, double herringbone, chevron, basket weave, brick bond, mosaic parquet and Versailles panels. You can choose solid wood blocks, engineered parquet and engineered herringbone for stability over underfloor heating and busy commercial spaces, or reclaimed parquet for genuine heritage character. Every floor is set out carefully, fitted to a sound, level subfloor, then finished in your chosen oil or lacquer using systems such as Bona and Osmo hardwax oil. We supply and fit under one written quote, work out of hours where a venue cannot close, and keep our pricing fair, transparent and in writing. Common questions

Parquet flooring FAQs.

Can you restore an old or damaged parquet floor?

Yes. Parquet floor restoration is one of the things we are asked for most across London. A tired block floor that looks beyond saving is very often restorable. We lift and re-lay loose or lifting blocks, replace missing and damaged blocks with matched timber, fill gaps, then re-sand the whole floor back to clean bare wood and seal it. Old wood block floors hidden under carpet, vinyl or layers of polish frequently come back beautifully once they are stripped, repaired and refinished. We assess the floor on site and tell you honestly whether restoration or partial replacement is the better route.

What do you do about missing or loose parquet blocks?

Loose and lifting blocks are usually a sign that the original adhesive has failed or the subfloor has moved. We lift the affected blocks, clean off the old bitumen or adhesive, level and prepare the subfloor beneath, then re-lay the blocks so they sit flat and bond properly. Where blocks are missing, split or rotten, we source replacement wood blocks, including reclaimed parquet, and match the species, size and tone as closely as possible so repairs disappear into the surrounding floor once it is sanded and sealed.

Can you install new herringbone or chevron parquet?

Yes. We install new parquet flooring across London in herringbone, double herringbone, chevron, basket weave, brick bond and mosaic patterns, as well as Versailles panels for higher-end schemes. You can choose solid wood blocks, engineered parquet and engineered herringbone, or reclaimed parquet for a characterful, heritage look. We set out the pattern carefully, fit it to a properly prepared subfloor, then sand and finish it in your chosen oil or lacquer so the new floor performs in a commercial setting.

Can you remove old black bitumen or adhesive from parquet blocks?

Yes. Many original London parquet floors were laid into black bitumen, and reclaimed blocks usually arrive with old adhesive still attached. Removing old bitumen and adhesive cleanly is skilled, messy work, and it is essential if the blocks are to be re-laid flat and bond reliably. We clean the backs and edges of the blocks, prepare and level the subfloor, then re-lay onto a suitable modern adhesive before re-sanding and sealing the finished floor.

Can you match reclaimed blocks to an existing floor?

Often, yes. When a floor has missing or unusable blocks, matching reclaimed blocks to the existing parquet is the key to an invisible repair. We work to match species, block dimensions, grain and colour, and because the whole floor is re-sanded and sealed as one, the new and old blocks blend into a single consistent finish. Period and heritage buildings, churches and listed interiors are exactly where this matters most, and it is work we take real care over.

Will you work out of hours so we do not have to close?

Yes. Parquet restoration and installation create dust and need time for finishes to cure, so we regularly work evenings, nights and weekends for offices, shops, restaurants, churches and halls across London. The programme is timed around your opening hours and agreed up front in your written quote, so the floor is ready when you reopen.
