Padel Court Surfacing in London

Padel is the fastest-growing racket sport in the country, and the surface is what players feel on every point. We surface, install and resurface padel courts across London, from the base and drainage up to the artificial turf, infill and line markings.

Outdoor padel court in London with blue artificial-grass surfacing and crisp white line markings

New padel clubs are opening across London and the South East, and operators are converting underused tennis and five-a-side space to meet demand that is running well ahead of supply. As a commercial surfacing contractor covering London, we help clubs, leisure operators and developers get courts that play true and stand up to constant use, indoors and out.

A padel court is not laid like a tennis court or a sports hall. The playing surface is a specialist artificial-grass carpet dressed with a silica sand infill, and it is only ever as good as the base beneath it. Get the base, the falls and the infill right and the court plays consistently for years; cut corners and you get puddles, ripples and uneven wear.

We manage the whole project, coordinating the right specialist trades from groundworks through to the finished surface and markings, with one written quote and one accountable, managed job rather than a separate groundworker, surfacer and fitter. And we plan the work around your opening calendar so courts come back online on schedule.

What we deliver

From the ground up to the white lines.

Base & groundworks

Sound, level sub-base and a surface course laid to falls with drainage designed in, the foundation of a court that plays true.

Artificial turf & infill

Monofilament or fibrillated padel turf in your court colour, dressed with silica sand infill brushed to the right depth for pace and grip.

Line markings

Crisp white lines tufted or inlaid into the turf rather than painted, so they stay sharp through constant play.

Resurfacing & upkeep

Re-turfing, fresh infill and re-brushing to bring tired courts back to life, plus advice on keeping them playing well.

Padel sits within our wider sports and recreational surfacing, so whether you are adding courts to a leisure site or building a dedicated club, we can take on the surfacing alongside the rest of the project.

What to think about

What makes a court play well.

These are the points we talk through with London clubs and operators when planning new courts or a resurface.

  • The base comes first. A sound, level base laid to the right falls is the single biggest factor in a court that drains, plays true and wears evenly.
  • Drainage. Outdoor courts must shed water quickly, because standing water means cancelled sessions and lost revenue.
  • Turf and infill choice. Turf type, colour and infill depth set the pace, grip and feel of the court, and we match them to your level of play and budget.
  • Indoor or outdoor. Indoor courts sell sessions all year in controlled conditions; outdoor courts cost less to build but need weather and drainage designed in.
  • Upkeep from day one. Regular brushing and the occasional infill top-up keep a court playing as it should, so we hand over with clear maintenance advice.

How we work

From site survey to first serve.

1. Survey & advice

We assess the ground, levels and drainage, talk through turf and budget, and set it all out in a clear written quote.

2. Base & groundworks

We prepare the sub-base and lay the surface course to tight tolerances and the right falls for drainage.

3. Surface & mark

We lay the turf, brush in the infill to depth and set out crisp, hard-wearing line markings.

4. Hand over & advise

We hand the court over ready for play, with simple maintenance guidance to keep it performing.

Why operators choose us

One project, one accountable job.

  • Groundworks to white lines coordinated under one managed job, so nothing falls between the base, the surface and the markings.
  • Planned around your calendar so new or resurfaced courts come back online on schedule.
  • Honest advice on whether a tired court needs resurfacing or the base needs addressing first, rather than selling you a full rebuild by default.
  • Accredited, qualified contractors: every trade we put on your job holds the right certificates and qualifications for that specific work, including CHAS, Constructionline Gold, CFA membership and SafeContractor.

Common questions

Padel court surfacing FAQs.

What surface is used on a padel court?

A padel court uses a specialist artificial-grass carpet dressed with a silica sand infill brushed down between the fibres. The infill stabilises the turf and sets the pace, grip and bounce of the court, so getting the depth right is as important as the carpet itself.

Can you build outdoor padel courts for the British weather?

Yes. Outdoor courts are built on a sound, level base laid to falls so water runs off rather than pooling, with drainage designed in. The turf and infill are chosen to drain and recover quickly after rain, so courts are playable for as much of the year as possible.

Do you resurface existing padel courts?

Often, yes. Where the base is sound, a tired court can be re-turfed and re-dressed, or topped up with fresh infill and re-brushed, to restore the play at a fraction of the cost of a new build. We will tell you honestly whether the court is worth resurfacing or whether the base needs addressing first.

How long does it take to install a padel court?

It depends mostly on the groundworks. Where a sound base already exists, surfacing is relatively quick; a full build including sub-base, surfacing and structure takes longer. We give a clear programme with the quote and plan the work around your opening calendar.
